Adeleke Denies Defection Rumours, Assures of Commitment to PDP

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has firmly denied rumors circulating about his alleged defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his commitment to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement released on Saturday, July 5, 2025, by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke assured the people of Osun State that he remains a bonafide member and leader of the PDP in the state.

The governor expressed concern over the widespread rumors and urged the public to disregard them, focusing instead on his administration’s achievements.

Adeleke emphasized his dedication to implementing the administration’s five-point agenda, promising continued delivery of good governance and democratic dividends.

“I assure the good people of Osun that I remain part and parcel of the PDP family. I am not defecting to any party,” Adeleke stated. This denial comes amid speculations about potential defections from the PDP to the APC, with some other PDP governors previously facing similar rumors.

The Osun State PDP chapter has also dismissed claims of Adeleke’s involvement in any political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, affirming the governor’s loyalty to the PDP. The party’s chairman, Sunday Bisi, reiterated that the PDP in Osun State remains united and committed to its goals under the current leadership.
