NNPP Dumps Kwankwaso, Say He No Longer Has Mandate for 2027

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has distanced itself from its 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, stating that he no longer has a platform to contest for the presidency in 2027.

NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Major, clarified that Kwankwaso and his associate, Buba Galadima, were expelled from the party due to anti-party activities and can no longer represent the NNPP or use its platform for any political contest.

Major emphasized that the party’s Memorandum of Understanding with the Kwankwasiya Movement, led by Kwankwaso, ended after the 2023 presidential election. He cited internal conflicts and litigation issues caused by Kwankwaso during his tenure with the party.

The NNPP chairman noted that Kwankwaso’s ambition to contest the presidency again is unlikely, as he lacks the pedigree to match President Bola Tinubu in any contest.

Major urged Nigerians to disregard statements made by Kwankwaso and his group, claiming they no longer speak for the NNPP.

The NNPP is reportedly being approached by potential aspirants for the 2027 presidential election and will select its candidate through due process and constitutionality.

The party has stated that it will no longer hand over its ticket to individuals who have betrayed its trust.
