“Stop Deceiving Nigerians, Show Your Scorecard Wike Slams Critics of Tinubu-Led Government”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has launched a scathing critique against political figures and former public office holders who are already leading a coalition against President Bola Tinubu’s administration just 18 months into his tenure.

Speaking at a public event, Wike questioned the sincerity and integrity of those who began forming a political coalition against the President only six months after he assumed office.

He condemned what he described as premature opposition and accused his critics of hypocrisy and deception.

“I never knew that people were suffering to that level. I never asked people. They say coalition started 18 months ago.

The president has only been in office for two years. So, the coalition started six months after he assumed office. When will you stop deceiving Nigerians?”

The minister, who previously served as a two-term governor of Rivers State, criticized former top office holders who failed to deliver tangible results during their time in power. Without naming anyone directly, Wike referenced individuals who had served as Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Minister of Transportation, stating that despite holding influential positions for several years, they failed to address the grievances of ordinary Nigerians.

“You had the opportunity to be Senate President for eight years, Speaker for four years, and Minister of Transportation for eight years. You never made angry Nigerians happy. But now someone is just six months in office, and you’re leading a movement against him.”

Wike emphasized the importance of transparency and performance, calling on all politicians to present their track records rather than engaging in political theatrics. He underscored the need for accountability and development-focused leadership.

“Everybody should show their scorecard. When I was a Senate President, what did I do for my people in Beriwe State? What did I do in Otobo? Is it by flying helicopters? That’s not service. That’s showmanship.”

Wike concluded by stressing that he and his team are actively working and showcasing their achievements, declaring that the time for vague criticism is over.

“We are here, 16 days, showing our scorecard. This time around, let everyone show their scorecard!”

The statement is widely interpreted as part of a larger internal political power struggle and a rebuttal to former allies turned critics within the Nigerian political landscape.
