2Face Apologises to Natasha, Family over Male Sexuality Gaffe

Popular Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has issued a public apology to his wife, Natasha, his children, and his fans following widespread backlash over a controversial statement he made about male sexuality.
The veteran singer had caused a stir during a recent appearance on a podcast, where he claimed that men are not biologically wired to remain sexually committed to one woman, even when they genuinely love their partner.
“A man is not built to sexually be with one woman. A man can love one woman die, but it’s impossible for a man to sexually be with only one woman. It’s the biology of man,” 2Baba said during the podcast.
The statement quickly went viral, drawing heavy criticism from many Nigerians on social media, who accused the singer of endorsing or justifying infidelity. While some described the remarks as misogynistic and insensitive, others referred to it as a reflection of “a toxic reality” that should not be normalized.
In response to the backlash, 2Baba took to social media on Tuesday night to express regret, describing his earlier remarks as “unlegendary.” In a video message, he acknowledged the hurt his words had caused and offered a heartfelt apology.
“I know I messed up with what I said and I know I’m going to get cancelled because of it. I apologise to my fans and most importantly, my wife, the love of my life, Natasha, and also my kids. I’m terribly sorry. That’s not who I am,” the singer said.
2Baba, known for his iconic role in shaping modern Afrobeat music and for hits such as African Queen, has often faced public scrutiny over his private life, including previous reports of infidelity and complex family dynamics.
However, he has also consistently professed his love and commitment to his wife of over a decade.
While some fans have welcomed the apology, others remain critical, calling for greater accountability from celebrities regarding the messages they promote, especially on gender and relationships.
As the controversy simmers, many observers note that the incident has reignited public discourse around fidelity, gender expectations, and the responsibility of public figures in shaping social narratives.
