NNPP Downplays Kwankwaso’s Defection Rumours

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has downplayed rumors of its former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Hashim Dungunrawa, the NNPP’s Kano State Chairman, described the reports as baseless speculation.

However, Dungunrawa acknowledged that the widespread nature of the rumor highlights Kwankwaso’s significant influence in Nigerian politics. He attributed the speculation to the former governor’s reputation for integrity and strong political relevance.

Dungunrawa also noted the historical connection between Kwankwaso and President Bola Tinubu, who both served as governors and lawmakers. Despite their past association, Dungunrawa emphasized that he wouldn’t speculate on unconfirmed reports.
