“Kate Henshaw Slams Age-Shaming,.Says Growing Older Is a Privilege, Not an Insult’

Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has strongly condemned the rising trend of age-shaming, describing it as a backward and senseless act that modern society must discard.

In a candid video posted to her Instagram page on Saturday, the 53-year-old actress took aim at individuals particularly younger men who use age as a tool for ridicule, especially against women.

Henshaw expressed deep frustration over what she termed a growing societal disrespect for age, questioning why youth would mock the very thing they wish for in life: longevity.

“It is utterly incredulous and laughable that the first thing out of people’s mouths, especially those who are younger than you, especially the young men… is to say, ‘old woman.’ Do you people want to die young? It’s a question I need you to answer,” she said with a mix of disbelief and defiance.

The actress, known for her fitness lifestyle and outspoken personality, emphasised that ageing should be celebrated, not scorned. “When you wish people happy birthdays and long life, why do you think that using the word ‘old’ as an insult will make someone feel less than who they are?” she asked.

Unapologetically confident, Kate declared that no one could shame her for her age or anything else, adding, “Me, nobody can shame me. Nobody.”

She also addressed the outdated societal expectations placed on women, where they are often judged for how they dress or look once they reach a certain age.

Henshaw called for the abandonment of such double standards and encouraged women to embrace their age with pride and confidence.

“Mocking people for growing older only reflects your own insecurity,” she concluded.

Kate Henshaw’s message has since garnered widespread support, with many social media users and fans praising her for challenging toxic norms and standing tall in a society that often idolises youth at the expense of wisdom and experience.
