APC Chairman Ganduje Steps Down in Controversial Circumstances

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje has resigned from his position on Friday.
According to sources, Ganduje’s departure is aimed at addressing growing internal opposition and appeasing stakeholders from the North Central region who have been advocating for the chairmanship to be rotated to their zone.
The move is also seen as a strategic decision by the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ganduje, who hails from Kano, was appointed as the APC Chairman in August 2023 after the resignation of his predecessor. Since then, there have been increasing calls for the position to be returned to the North Central region.
A national vice chairman of the party is expected to take over as the acting chairman pending the party’s national convention in December.
This development is seen as an attempt to placate aggrieved stakeholders and strengthen the party’s internal dynamics.
