Bola Tinubu International Conference Center Booked Till 2027, Discloses Wike

The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja is in high demand, with bookings already filled until 2027.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike disclosed this information during the opening of the Kugbo Bus Terminal, highlighting the centre’s popularity.

The conference centre’s inauguration on June 10, 2025, drew attention from various stakeholders, including government agencies and private organizations.

However, its popularity has created scheduling conflicts, particularly with the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review.

Wike is exploring ways to accommodate the committee’s needs, but emphasized that the National Assembly would need to pay for using the facility like any other organization. This approach aims to ensure the centre’s sustainability.

The renovation of the conference centre, which cost N39 billion, was met with criticism from some quarters. Former Presidential Candidate Peter Obi questioned the expenditure, suggesting that the funds could have been better utilized elsewhere.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, representing President Bola Tinubu at the Kugbo Bus Terminal event, appealed to Wike to consider refunding bookings to accommodate the Constitutional Review Conference.

He also requested that the minister avoid booking the centre until 2028 to allow the ruling party to celebrate potential electoral victories.
