House of Reps Summons Minister over College of Complementary and Alternative Medicine

The House of Representatives has taken decisive action by summoning the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Adekunle Salako, to address concerns regarding the Federal College of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Abuja. The move is in response to allegations of financial misappropriation within the institution.

Led by Alex Egbona, Chairman of the House Committee on Specialty Healthcare, the investigative hearing aims to shed light on the college’s financial dealings and ensure accountability. The decision to probe the institution’s activities was made on May 7, 2025, amid growing concerns about its operations.

The college has faced scrutiny over its prolonged dormancy and alleged financial irregularities. With the Senate previously threatening to suspend the college’s budget due to non-productivity, the current investigation seeks to uncover the truth behind these claims and potentially prevent further misuse of funds.
