Pogba in Talks with Monaco over Resuscitating Career

Former French midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that he is in talks with a club, believed to be Monaco, as he seeks to revive his career after a doping ban.
The 32-year-old, who has played for Manchester United and Juventus, spoke to French television on Sunday about his plans to return to the pitch.
Pogba’s career has been marred by injuries, patchy form, and off-field controversies, including a four-year doping ban that was later reduced to 18 months on appeal. The ban ended in March, and Pogba is now determined to put the past behind him and focus on his football.
“It was very, very hard,” Pogba said, reflecting on the challenges he has faced. “But I am talking to a club, and I am determined to get back on the pitch, mentally ready, physically ready. It’s just a matter of time.”
Pogba’s personal life has also been affected by a high-profile extortion case involving his brother, Mathias, who was sentenced to a year in prison last December. The case, which involved six men linked to Pogba, including three childhood friends, shocked France and led to a period of estrangement between the brothers.
However, Pogba revealed on Sunday that he has re-established contact with Mathias, who is serving his sentence with an electronic bracelet. “We are in contact. We’ve spoken, among ourselves, with the family,” Pogba said. “It’s a blood bond. There was a scar, of course. We’re moving forward. Only time can give us answers.”
Pogba also spoke about the emotional toll of the extortion case, which included being held at gunpoint in 2022. He said he was initially willing to pay the demanded money but later decided to speak out and refuse to give in to the perpetrators.
The experience, combined with the doping ban and court case, has had a profound impact on Pogba. “I learned a lot during this period,” he said. “I did a lot of cleaning around myself too. I am also much closer to my family, my children.”
As Pogba looks to revive his career, he is focused on putting the past behind him and starting anew. With talks underway with a club, believed to be Monaco, Pogba is hopeful of returning to the pitch and rediscovering his form. Only time will tell if he can overcome the challenges he has faced and regain his place as one of the world’s top midfielders.
