Tinubu Urged to Intervene in Osun LG Crisis

The three lawmakers representing Osun State in the Senate, Francis Fadahunsi, Dr. Olalere Oyewumi, and Olubiyi Fadeyi, all from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have made a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing crisis ravaging the local government areas in Osun State.

In a jointly signed statement, the lawmakers pleaded with Tinubu to play a fatherly role in resolving the crisis, without considering the political affiliations of the parties involved.

The lawmakers commended the rulings of the courts on the crisis, but expressed their belief that Tinubu’s intervention is necessary to bring the dispute to a final halt.

They noted that alternative dispute resolution is usually the right approach to settle disagreements, and that Tinubu’s fatherly role can help to achieve this.

According to the lawmakers, the crisis has created considerable instability in the state, and has mostly affected the ordinary Nigerians, particularly those at the grassroots. They therefore urged Tinubu to intervene urgently and dispassionately, as his concern for the welfare of Nigerians is well-known.

The letter, which was obtained in Osogbo on Friday, read in part: “We are writing to respectfully appeal to you to intervene in the lingering political crisis that has been ongoing within the Local Government Administration in Osun State. This situation has created considerable instability, and we deem it important to seek your fatherly consideration.”

The lawmakers also expressed their confidence in Tinubu’s ability to resolve the crisis, saying: “Your Excellency, we are aware of your concern for the ordinary Nigerian and particularly those at the grassroots who are most affected by this crisis, the reason we seek your urgent and dispassionate intervention.”

The appeal by the lawmakers is seen as a significant development in the ongoing crisis, and it is hoped that Tinubu’s intervention will help to bring peace and stability to the local government areas in Osun State.
