You are not from Akwa Ibom, Governor Eno fires back at Kenneth Okonkwo

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has launched a scathing attack on actor-turned-politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, in response to Okonkwo’s recent criticism of his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) the ruling party.
During an interview with Arise TV, Okonkwo had referred to Governor Eno as a “transgenderic governor”, questioning his political morals for defecting to the APC and ensuring that all his cabinet members followed suit.
However, Governor Eno was quick to respond, dismissing Okonkwo’s criticism and taking a dig at his acting career.
In a statement, Governor Eno described Okonkwo as a “failed actor, attempted politician, and lawyer who has never moved a motion”.
He also made a reference to Okonkwo’s old movie, Living in Bondage, saying that the actor was “still living in bondage”.
The Governor repeated the phrase “still living in bondage” on two occasions, emphasizing his point.
Living in Bondage, a two-part Nollywood drama produced between 1992 and 1993, starred Okonkwo alongside other notable Nigerian movie stars like Kanayo O. Kanayo and Bob-Manuel Udokwu.
Governor Eno advised Okonkwo to focus on his home state and not interfere in the affairs of Akwa Ibom State.
“Tell them that this is living reality. He should go to his state and fight. He is an attempted politician, he tried in the Labour party he ran away. He tried acting, he was living in bondage. He is an attempted lawyer; he has never moved one motion before. So, such people don’t listen to them,” he said.
The Governor also made it clear that he would not be swayed by Okonkwo’s criticism, stating that he was in charge of the state and knew what was best for its people.
“This is within my right and he is not from Akwa Ibom state. We don’t welcome him in Akwa Ibom state, this is Akwa Ibom state matter. I am the one on the driver’s seat today, I am the one holding the steering wheel and I know where go slow no go dey, I know where porthole no dey. That is why I am carrying Akwa Ibom to the expressway,” he said citing the All Progressive Union as the expressway where there isn’t traffic jams.
The Governor has previously stated that his defection to the All Progressive Congress(APC) was in the best interest of the state and was never intended to cause disunity but rather to strategically position Akwa Ibom state for progress and greatness.
