Sultan Of Sokoto Urges Prayers For Leaders, Charges Citizens To Support Government
As Muslims across Nigeria celebrated the Eid-al-Kabir festival, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has reiterated the need for Nigerians to pray for their leaders, particularly in the face of numerous challenges facing the country.
The Sultan made this call during his Sallah message, which he delivered shortly after the Eid prayer at his palace in Sokoto.
According to the Sultan, it is the duty of citizens to support the leadership in their efforts to tackle the various challenges bedeviling the nation.
He emphasized that the best way to offer this support is by praying for the success of leaders, being law-abiding, and promoting unity among Nigerians.
The Sultan’s call for prayers and support is coming at a time when the country is grappling with issues of insecurity, economic instability, and social unrest.
He appealed to Nigerians to put aside their differences and work towards the common goal of building a prosperous and peaceful nation.
In addition to calling for prayers and support, the Sultan also urged security agencies to intensify their efforts in combating insecurity in the country. He expressed concern over the rising cases of banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality, and charged security agencies to do more to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians.
Furthermore, the Sultan encouraged citizens to embrace agriculture as a means of achieving economic self-reliance.
He noted that agriculture has the potential to provide employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and reduce the country’s reliance on imports.
The Sultan’s message was well-received by Muslims and non-Muslims alike, who gathered at the palace to celebrate the Eid-al-Kabir festival.
Many Nigerians have expressed support for the Sultan’s call for prayers and unity, and have pledged to work towards building a better future for the country.
In a related development, the Sultan also used the occasion to condole with families who have lost loved ones to insecurity and other forms of violence.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and called on Nigerians to work towards creating a society where peace, justice, and equality reign supreme.
The Sultan’s Sallah message has been hailed as a timely intervention, coming at a time when the country is in dire need of unity, peace, and stability. As Nigerians continue to celebrate the Eid-al-Kabir festival, many are hoping that the Sultan’s call for prayers and support will be heeded, and that the country will soon overcome its current challenges and achieve greatness.
