In a heartfelt appeal, President Bola Tinubu has called upon Nigerians to come together in prayer and solidarity for the country’s military and security agencies.
This plea was made during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations at the Eid Ground in Dodan Barracks, Lagos, where the President emphasized the need for a collective sense of responsibility and compassion.
As stated by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu underscored the significance of empathy and mutual support during this sacred period.
He encouraged citizens to extend a helping hand to the most vulnerable members of society and to foster a spirit of brotherhood and neighborliness.
The President also commended the bravery and selflessness of the nation’s troops, who are engaged in a fierce battle against terrorism and banditry.
He urged Nigerians to recognize the immense sacrifices being made by these security personnel and to pray for their safety and success.
In a similar vein, the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Suleiman Abu-Nola, delivered a sermon that highlighted the importance of emulating Prophet Abraham’s exemplary spirit of sacrifice. He exhorted the Muslim faithful to cultivate a sense of selflessness and to prioritize the well-being of their families, communities, and the nation as a whole.
Sheikh Abu-Nola further emphasized the need for Nigerians to transcend ethnic and tribal divisions, embracing instead a sense of national unity and purpose.
“By doing so,” he said, “we can create a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come.”
The Eid-el-Kabir celebrations were attended by a number of high-profile dignitaries, including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammed Matawalle; the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; and former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola.
Other notable attendees included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu; Group Chief Executive of Oando, Wale Tinubu; and President Tinubu’s longtime friend and ally, Prof. Shaffideen Amuwo.
As Nigeria continues to navigate a complex array of challenges, President Tinubu’s call for national unity and support for the security forces is being seen as a timely and welcome initiative. By emphasizing the importance of collective action and solidarity, the President is seeking to mobilize the nation’s resources and energies in pursuit of a more peaceful and prosperous future.
