Road Safety Corps Embarks on Nationwide Patrol on Eid el-Kabir

In anticipation of the upcoming Eid el-Kabir celebrations, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a comprehensive nationwide patrol operation to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience for all road users.

The operation, which began on June 5 and will run until June 11, involves the deployment of over 36,000 personnel, including regular and special marshals, across the country.

To support the operation, the FRSC has mobilized a fleet of 750 patrol vehicles, 120 ambulances, 25 tow trucks, and over 200 motorcycles. The corps has also equipped its officers with advanced technology, including radar guns and breathalysers, to monitor speed and detect drunk driving.

The FRSC’s Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, has emphasized the importance of reducing road traffic crashes through effective patrols and public enlightenment.

To achieve this, the corps will focus on key areas such as traffic control, wrongful overtaking, and driver’s license violations.

As part of the operation, commanding officers have been instructed to ensure full coverage of 52 major highways and corridors nationwide, including the Akwanga-Lafiya-Makurdi, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano, and Sagamu-Mowe-Lagos routes. The FRSC will also work in collaboration with other security agencies, including the military, police, and civil defence, to enhance coordination and response to emergencies.

To facilitate swift response to incidents, the FRSC has activated its emergency response teams, known as Zebras, and will operate mobile courts nationwide to handle traffic violations.
