Ekiti Court Sends Child Rapist to Life in Prison

A devastating case of child abuse has ended in a life imprisonment sentence for 33-year-old Olamilekan Ajewole, who was found guilty of raping a minor.
The incident occurred on June 29, 2024, at Ayetoro Ekiti, where the young victim, aged 10, was brutally assaulted by Ajewole in the home of 25-year-old Ayo Omoyajowo.
According to the victim’s testimony, Ajewole had forcibly entered the room where she was, grabbed her from behind, and silenced her cries for help.
The traumatic experience left the young girl in pain and distress, prompting her to report the incident to her father upon returning home.
The prosecution, led by O.B Ayeleso, presented a robust case with five witnesses and a range of exhibits, including defendant statements, digital evidence, and medical reports.
Meanwhile, Ajewole’s defense team maintained that Omoyajowo was unaware of the incident and had no involvement in the crime.
In a thorough judgment, Justice Adekunle Adeleye carefully examined the evidence and ultimately cleared Omoyajowo of any wrongdoing, citing a lack of connection to the crime.
However, the judge found Ajewole guilty of the heinous offense, emphasizing that the prosecution had proven his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
As a result, Ajewole has been sentenced to life imprisonment under the Child’s Rights Law of Ekiti State. The verdict serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences that await those who perpetrate such horrific crimes against vulnerable members of society.
