No Conspiracy to Dim Educational Chances of Any Region, Asserts Oloyede

The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has categorically denied allegations of conspiracy theories against any part of the country following the technical glitch that affected the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The glitch, which impacted candidates from the five states of the South-East zone and Lagos, had sparked widespread speculation and concerns about the integrity of the examination process.

Speaking at a meeting with the management of the board ahead of the release of results of the rescheduled UTME Examination on Wednesday, Prof. Oloyede emphasized that the technical issues were not deliberately engineered to compromise the results of candidates from any particular region.

He assured the public that the board is committed to fairness, transparency, and equity in the conduct of the examination.

“We understand the concerns and frustrations that the technical glitch has caused, particularly for candidates from the affected states.

“However, I want to categorically state that there is no conspiracy theory against any part of the country. The technical issues were unforeseen and regrettable, but we have taken immediate action to address them and ensure that all candidates are given a fair chance to participate in the examination,” Prof. Oloyede said.

Prof. Oloyede explained that the board had conducted a thorough investigation into the cause of the technical glitch and had identified the root cause as a technical fault that affected the server. He assured that measures have been put in place to prevent such occurrences in the future.

“We have taken concrete steps to rectify the situation and ensure that all candidates are able to participate in the examination without any hindrance.

“We have also extended the examination period for the affected candidates to ensure that they are not disadvantaged in any way,” he said.

The JAMB Registrar’s reassurance comes as a relief to candidates and stakeholders who had expressed concerns about the integrity of the examination process. The board’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and equity is expected to restore confidence in the UTME examination and the admission process into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
