Kwara Governor Mourns Victims of Gbajibo Boat Mishap

Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims involved in the tragic Gbajibo boat mishap, which claimed several lives over the weekend.

The accident involved traders from neighboring Niger State.

In an official statement issued on Sunday, Governor AbdulRazaq described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic boat accident in Gbajibo that claimed the lives of hardworking traders from Niger State. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families during this difficult time,” the Governor said.
He offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased and comfort for their grieving families. Governor AbdulRazaq also emphasized the urgent need to strengthen safety regulations around water transportation to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

“It is important for all relevant agencies and state governments to collaborate in improving water transport safety, especially in rural communities where such means of transportation are commonly used,” he added.
The Gbajibo boat mishap has drawn widespread sympathy from across the region, with search and recovery operations still ongoing as authorities investigate the cause of the accident. The state government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at ensuring safer travel and protecting the lives of citizens.
