Victor Osimhen Helps Galatasaray Clinch 25th Turkish League Title

Victor Osimhen Helps Galatasaray Clinch 25th Turkish League Title

Galatasaray has been crowned the champion of the Turkish Super Lig for the 25th time, thanks in part to the contributions of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. The team’s 3-0 victory over Kayserispor on Sunday sealed the title, with Osimhen scoring the opening goal to move eight points clear of second-placed Fenerbahce with two rounds of games remaining.

Osimhen’s loan move from Napoli to Galatasaray last September has proven to be a crucial factor in the team’s success, with the striker scoring 25 goals since his arrival. His goal on Sunday helped Galatasaray take a commanding lead, and the team was able to see out the win with a late penalty from goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

The title win means that Galatasaray will qualify for the Champions League league phase, a significant achievement for the team. They have been in front since the third game of the season and have shown consistency and determination throughout the campaign.

Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, has been left to ponder what might have been. The team has finished as runners-up for the fourth straight season, and their failure to win any of the four Istanbul derbies against Galatasaray and Besiktas has ultimately cost them the title.
