UAE Rescues 22 Crew Members After Fire Erupts on Cargo Ship in Gulf of Oman

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Guard has rescued 22 crew members after a fire broke out aboard a cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman.

The rescue operation was carried out by the Coast Guard Division of the UAE National Guard following a distress call from the vessel’s crew, who reported that a fire had erupted onboard.

According to the National Guard, specialised rescue teams were immediately deployed to locate the vessel and evacuate those on board.

All 22 crew members, who were identified as Arab nationals, were successfully rescued from the burning vessel.

The rescued individuals received first aid before being handed over to the relevant authorities for further attention.

Authorities confirmed that all 22 crew members were in stable condition following the incident.

The National Guard said the successful operation demonstrated the readiness and operational capacity of its personnel to respond swiftly to maritime emergencies.

It added that the rescue formed part of ongoing efforts to protect lives and strengthen maritime security and safety across the country’s waters.

The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in the wider Gulf region, particularly around the Gulf of Oman and the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
