Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has mobilised his political associates to strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu reelection and the emergence of Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as Lagos governor in 2027.

The mobilisation followed a strategic meeting Ambode held with his political associates on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, where he reaffirmed his commitment to party unity and victory for the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Ambode Support Associates, its representative Adeshina Tiamiyu said arrangements were underway to receive Hamzat and other APC candidates in Epe next week. He said the proposed gathering was designed to demonstrate the strength, unity and collective resolve of the Lagos APC, and to bring together party members, political leaders, community stakeholders and other party faithful from across the state.

Tiamiyu said the engagement would also provide an opportunity to strengthen existing alliances, deepen political collaboration and renew commitment to the party success in the 2027 general elections.

He said the message from Ambode was clear, that unity must translate into action, relationships must translate into stronger alliances, and collective commitment must translate into electoral success.

The statement said the mobilisation would extend beyond party structures to communities, Community Development Associations, market women, artisans and persons living with disabilities, among other groups.

The aim, according to the group, is to galvanise support for Tinubu and Hamzat at the grassroots level across Lagos State.

The group said the effort is consistent with its philosophy of One Nation, One Community, One Family, and its belief in inclusion. It said the philosophy reflects the importance of involving different sections of society in political activities and building a united front ahead of the elections.

Ambode, an accountant and former Lagos State Accountant General, served as governor from May 2015 to May 2019, completing one four year term. He had earlier congratulated Hamzat on his emergence as the APC consensus governorship candidate, and had dismissed reports linking him to the African Democratic Congress, reaffirming his loyalty to the APC and to Tinubu.

The development comes as the Lagos APC continues to consolidate its structure ahead of 2027. While Ambode allies present the mobilisation as a show of unity, observers say the coming Epe gathering will test how far the reconciliation within the party has gone, and whether the different tendencies in Lagos APC can work together for a common electoral goal.
