Alert Microfinance Bank Grows Assets To N28.8 Billion As Credit Ratings Get Upgrade
Alert Microfinance Bank, a member of Alert Group, has seen its total assets rise to N28.8 billion alongside credit rating upgrades from Agusto and Co and DataPro, reflecting improvements in the institution capital position, liquidity, asset quality and financial profile.
The bank total assets surged from N12 billion in 2024 to approximately N28.8 billion in 2025, while shareholders funds rose to N5.57 billion from N1.37 billion. Deposit liabilities increased to N15.55 billion from N5.94 billion, and profit before tax grew to N384.3 million from N199 million over the same period.
Agusto and Co upgraded Alert MFB long term rating to Bbb minus from Bb plus, assigned an A3 short term rating, and maintained a Stable Outlook. The rating agency stated that the upgrade reflects the bank improved capitalisation and liquidity profile, supported by an experienced management team and a non performing loan ratio that remained in line with industry peers.
In a separate assessment, DataPro upgraded Alert MFB long term rating to A minus from BBB plus, alongside an A1 short term rating, with a Stable Outlook and an upward rating trend, identifying liquidity, capitalisation, revenue profile, and asset quality as key factors.
The strengthening of the bank capital base was supported by fresh equity from shareholders. Agusto and Co reported that Alert MFB Basel I capital adequacy ratio stood at 25 per cent at the end of 2025, well above the 10 per cent regulatory minimum for microfinance banks, describing its capitalisation as strong for the business risks undertaken.
Liquidity also remained a major credit strength, with Agusto and Co reporting a liquidity ratio of 47.9 per cent compared to the 20 per cent regulatory benchmark, backed by N3.3 billion in undrawn committed credit lines from three commercial banks.
