FG Increases Feeding Allowance For Corps Members, Announces NYSC DG
The Federal Government has approved an increase in the feeding budget for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) during their orientation course, as part of measures to improve their welfare.
The Director-General of the NYSC, who disclosed this during a visit to an orientation camp, said the approval underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to the well-being of corps members across the country.
According to him, the upward review of the feeding allowance will ensure that corps members are provided with more nutritious and quality meals throughout the three-week orientation exercise.
The DG noted that the welfare of corps members remains a top priority for the Scheme, adding that the increment comes at a time when the cost of food items has risen significantly.
He explained that the Federal Government has continued to support the NYSC with necessary resources to enable it to deliver on its mandate of national unity, integration and youth development.
The DG further urged corps members to reciprocate the gesture by being disciplined, patriotic and committed to the ideals of the Scheme. He encouraged them to participate actively in all camp activities including skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.
He also assured that the management of the Scheme will continue to engage with relevant stakeholders to further improve the welfare and security of corps members both in camp and at their places of primary assignment.
The announcement has been welcomed by corps members who described it as a timely intervention that will improve their stay in camp.
