Police Arrest Suspected Vehicle Theft Kingpin in Ogun, Recover Stolen Car
Operatives of the Mowe Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected vehicle theft kingpin and recovered a stolen car during a stop-and-search operation along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Mosuru Issa.
According to the police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the officers flagged down a wine-coloured Toyota Camry for a routine security check at about 7:30 a.m. on September 11. The three occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled when they sighted the police.
The operatives pursued them and succeeded in arresting Issa, who is said to be from Agege in Lagos State. The stolen vehicle was secured at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the car was allegedly taken from where it was parked in Ojo, Lagos State, on September 7.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation. Efforts are continuing to locate the vehicle’s owner and track down the other occupants who escaped.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the officers for their vigilance and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing against vehicle theft and highway crime.
The police also advised vehicle owners to use basic security devices and report suspicious activities promptly.
