Nollywood actress and African Action Congress governorship candidate in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has opened up about the painful personal experience she says ultimately led to the end of her marriage. 

Speaking on a recent episode of The Clarity Zone podcast hosted by Nedu Wazobia, Ogala became emotional as she recounted suffering more than ten miscarriages during her union, a revelation that visibly shook her composure while she spoke.

The conversation took a personal turn after Ogala was asked who would take on the role of Abia State’s first man should she win the 2027 governorship election. In response, she revealed that she is currently single, before offering a glimpse into her romantic history. She disclosed that she previously dated Pastor Chris Okafor, founder and leader of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, popularly known as Liberation City, between 2017 and 2019, and that she got married afterward.

According to Ogala, that marriage eventually crashed in 2022 due to the emotional and physical toll of repeated pregnancy loss.

The actress did not disclose the identity of her former husband or provide further medical details about the miscarriages, but she described the period as one of the most difficult of her life, with the strain of the losses placing significant pressure on the marriage until it collapsed. This is not the first time Ogala has addressed the subject publicly, having previously spoken on social media about how the experiences affected her emotional wellbeing and expressing frustration with people who dismissed her pain as an attempt to seek publicity.

Beyond her Nollywood career, Ogala has increasingly turned her attention to politics. She previously served as a Special Adviser and, in May 2026, emerged as the African Action Congress candidate for the 2027 Abia State governorship race after winning the party’s primary. Her campaign has centred on improvements in education, healthcare and infrastructure, alongside job creation and greater government accountability, themes she continued to touch on during the same podcast appearance.
