White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt has announced that she will leave the Trump administration at the end of August. The 28-year-old, the youngest person to hold the post, said she wants to devote more time to her young children.

Leavitt described the move as a “bittersweet decision” in a social media post shortly after President Donald Trump confirmed her departure.

She returned to the White House briefing room only months after giving birth to her second child, a daughter named Viviana, in May. She is also the mother of a two-year-old son.

Explaining her choice, Leavitt said the demands of the job had become difficult to balance with family life. She wrote that she could not be the best mother her children deserve while giving the constant time and attention required by the role.

Trump did not name a successor. In his own post, the president said he respected her decision and indicated she would remain one of his top outside advisers and an influential voice within the Republican Party as the midterm elections approach.

Before becoming press secretary, Leavitt worked as a spokesperson for a pro-Trump super PAC and later joined the 2024 presidential campaign.

She had previously served in the White House press office during Trump’s first term and as communications director for a New York congresswoman.
