North West Governors Meet, Hone Developmental, Security Strategies

In a bid to address the pressing issues affecting the North West region, the seven Governors of the zone met in Kaduna on Friday night to discuss and develop strategies to tackle insecurity, unemployment, and excessive drug use.

The meeting, which was held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, aimed to foster collaboration and cooperation among the Governors to find lasting solutions to the challenges facing the region.

According to the Chairman of the Northwest Governors’ Forum, Umar Dikko Radda of Katsina State, the meeting was fruitful and productive, with all seven Governors agreeing to work together to address the issues affecting the region.

“We had a long discussion on the challenges affecting our region, and we have had presentations from the Northwest Development Commission, as well as the Federal Medical University Funtua for the region,” he said.

The Governors discussed various ways to prevent excessive drug use and explored potential collaborations with development partners to address the issue. Dr. Radda emphasized the importance of working together to bring about necessary development in the region.

“We have all agreed to work together on these issues raised, in order to bring the necessary development that is needed in the region,” he said.

Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani, noted that the issues of poverty, unemployment, and drug addiction are at the forefront and require immediate attention.

“We are working together to tackle issues affecting the region, and we are in close collaboration with development partners in order to find lasting solutions to the issues affecting the zone,” he said.

The meeting was attended by all seven Governors of the North West region, including Umar Dikko Radda of Katsina, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Aminu Masari of Katsina, and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna.

The Governors also received presentations from the Northwest Development Commission and the Federal Medical University Funtua, which highlighted the challenges facing the region and proposed solutions to address them.

The meeting was seen as a significant step towards addressing the regional challenges and promoting economic development in the North West zone.
