Professor Segun Aina has officially assumed office as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose second and final five-year term came to an end on July 31, 2026.

The handover ceremony took place on Friday at the board’s national headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, marking the beginning of a new leadership era for the examination body.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had appointed Aina as the substantive registrar on May 21, 2026. At 39 years old, he becomes the youngest person to occupy the position in the history of JAMB.

Before his appointment, Aina was a Professor of Computer Engineering with a reputation for expertise in digital systems, examination technology and institutional reforms within the public sector.

Speaking during his inauguration, the new registrar pledged to preserve the credibility of JAMB and strengthen efforts aimed at curbing examination malpractice through the deployment of advanced technology.

He warned individuals involved in examination fraud to abandon such activities, stressing that the board would not provide room for malpractice under his administration.

Aina also assured stakeholders that JAMB would sustain its collaboration with security agencies and other relevant institutions to safeguard the integrity of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and other examinations conducted by the board.

His predecessor, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, completed a decade in office after serving two consecutive terms as registrar.
