Lagos State Disburses N978.6 Million in Insurance Benefits to Families of Deceased Workers

In a move to support the families of its late employees, the Lagos State Government has disbursed a total of N978.6 million in insurance benefits to the next of kin of deceased civil servants.

This payout, part of the state’s Group Life Insurance Policy, is aimed at providing financial relief to the families left behind.

The initiative, which covers public servants who passed away while in active service, reflects the government’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce.

It also highlights the importance of social safety nets for civil servants who dedicate their lives to public service.

Speaking on the initiative, a government official emphasized that the insurance benefits are part of broader efforts to ensure that the families of fallen workers are not left struggling.

The payout aims to ease the financial burden often faced by bereaved families, providing support for education, housing, and other critical needs.

In recent years, Lagos State has maintained a consistent track record of fulfilling its insurance obligations to employees and their families.

In July 2023, the state disbursed N335 million to 128 beneficiaries of deceased staff members.

In 2022, a consortium of insurance companies paid N538.96 million to the relatives of 102 late workers who died in active service.

The Lagos State Government has pledged to continue supporting the families of its employees, recognizing the critical role of its workforce in driving the state’s development and economic growth.

As the administration continues to prioritize the welfare of its workers, this latest disbursement reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that those who serve the state are cared for, even in their absence.
