Troops Rescue Kidnapped Woman After Foiling Terrorist Attack in Katsina
Troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, working with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, have rescued a kidnapped woman in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation took place late on July 26 after a distress call about terrorist activities in Karkata Village.
Soldiers from Forward Operating Base Radda moved quickly to the scene.
They encountered the suspected terrorists before reaching the community and engaged them with heavy fire. The attackers abandoned the woman and fled into the surrounding bush.
The victim was safely recovered and reunited with her family. No casualties were recorded among the security personnel. The number of injuries or deaths among the fleeing terrorists could not be immediately confirmed.
Troops have intensified pursuit operations in the area to track down the remaining attackers and prevent further incidents. Officials say the swift response highlights the importance of timely intelligence and collaboration with local security groups.
Security forces continue to maintain a strong presence in the region. They have urged residents to report suspicious movements promptly to help disrupt terrorist plans and protect communities.
