The Federal Government and the Government of the Netherlands have agreed to deepen their partnership on migration and the fight against human smuggling.

The commitment was reaffirmed as the Dutch government donated equipment to the Nigeria Immigration Service Hostmanship Unit.

The Hostmanship programme trains immigration officers to treat members of the public with empathy, professionalism, and respect. The donated items include a solar inverter system, backup batteries, smart televisions, a projector, sound system, laptop, and other training tools.

Comptroller General of Immigration Kemi Nandap described the donation as an investment in people and institutional excellence.

She said the equipment would improve training and help officers deliver better service to travellers and the public.

Dutch Charge d’Affaires, Ronnald Sonnemans praised the progress made through the partnership. He noted that the Netherlands remains committed to working with Nigeria on migration management and professionalising border control.

The two countries have maintained close cooperation for 25 years. Officials said the continued support will help strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to manage migration effectively while upholding human dignity in public service.
