Jimmy Rolland Opens Up On Marriage Breakdown, Claims Ex-Wife Deceived Him Over Virginity

Nollywood actor, Jimmy Rolland has made startling revelations about the collapse of his marriage, claiming that his former wife misled him into believing she was a virgin before their wedding, an experience he described as one of the most painful disappointments of his life.

Speaking during an episode of the African A List podcast released on Saturday, the actor opened up extensively about the relationship, admitting there were early warning signs he chose to overlook because he was convinced of her honesty at the time.

According to Rolland, he and his ex-wife dated for four years before getting married, during which she consistently maintained that she had remained a virgin, prompting him not to pursue intimacy with her throughout their courtship. He recalled that after their traditional introduction ceremony, she specifically asked that they wait until their wedding night before becoming intimate, a request he honoured for several months leading up to the marriage, only to discover on the night itself that what she had told him was not true.

The actor also disclosed that both his mother and close friends had cautioned him against proceeding with the marriage following what he described as spiritual consultations they had carried out, warnings he admitted ignoring at the time despite acknowledging that he was not entirely blind to certain signs. He said he had, in his own words, been hypnotised by his mother in law into dismissing the concerns raised by people close to him, a decision he now looks back on with some regret.

Reflecting further on the breakdown of the union, Rolland said the most devastating part of the entire experience was not the initial revelation itself but losing regular access to the two children he shared with his former wife following their separation, noting that she took the children with her after the relationship ended. He explained that the emotional weight of being separated from his children compounded the pain of the marriage’s collapse, leaving him grappling with the fallout on multiple fronts long after the relationship had ended.
