South-East Governors Endorse Tinubu, Back Eastern Rail Project

The five governors of the South-East have decided to align their support with President Bola Tinubu. Imo State Governor and Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, made the announcement while highlighting the recent allocation of $3 billion for the reconstruction of the Eastern Rail Corridor.

Uzodimma said the decision followed a careful review of all options. He described the rail project as a major development initiative that will benefit the region and the country at large.

The governors’ endorsement signals stronger political cooperation between the South-East and the federal government. Many see it as a strategic move to attract more infrastructure and development projects to the zone.

The Eastern Rail Corridor is expected to boost trade, but transportation, and economic activities across the region. President Tinubu’s administration has been pushing for improved rail networks as part of broader infrastructure renewal efforts.

This development comes amid preparations for future elections and ongoing national conversations about unity and development. Observers will be watching to see how this alignment translates into tangible benefits for the South-East.
