Akwa Ibom Police Arrest Man Attempting to Sell Stolen N2m Block Machine
Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested a 23-year-old man, Emmanuel Etim, for allegedly stealing an industrial block moulding machine vibrator worth over N2 million. The suspect was caught while trying to sell the stolen equipment.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command said detectives acted on a report of the theft from the Ikot Ekpene International Market project site. The machine was successfully recovered, and efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang still at large.
In a separate incident, police arrested a 46-year-old man, Nsidibe Benson, for vandalising property at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic. He was caught stealing aluminium window frames, electrical wires, and cables. The suspect has confessed to the crime, and investigations continue to track his accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, commended members of the public for providing timely information that led to the arrests. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies.
These arrests demonstrate the police commitment to protecting public property and tackling theft in the state. Officials say more operations are planned to reduce such crimes.
