Veteran Nigerian rapper, Shola Idowu, popularly known as Weird MC, has warmed hearts online after making a rare public appearance to celebrate her milestone birthday alongside a small circle of close friends.

The intimate gathering, which took place outdoors, saw the rapper surrounded by loved ones as she marked her new age away from the public eye she has largely stayed out of in recent years.

A video capturing the celebration was shared on TikTok by one of her close friends, known as Iyaeto, who had secretly travelled to surprise her for the occasion.

According to Iyaeto’s account of how the surprise came together, she had spent days convincing Weird MC that she would not be able to make the trip, even going as far as making a video call on the day of travel to show herself supposedly still at home.

She explained that she could not bring herself to miss celebrating such a significant birthday with her friend and sister, so she quietly set out on the journey shortly after to join the celebration undetected.

The clip showed the rapper smiling, laughing and embracing her friends as the group came together to mark the special day, with the warmth between them reflecting the closeness of their bond.

Since the video made the rounds online, fans have flooded social media with excited reactions, many expressing joy at seeing Weird MC looking healthy and happy after years of staying largely private.

A significant number of comments also focused on how youthful she appeared, with many insisting she looked far younger than her actual age.
