Troops attached to the 102 Guards Battalion under Operation MESA have rescued two people after preventing a kidnapping attempt in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to intelligence sources, the operation took place in the early hours of July 15 after security personnel received reports of suspected kidnappers operating in Agwan Tomato community.

The troops swiftly moved to the location, disrupting the criminals’ activities before they could escape with their victims. Both abductees were rescued safely without sustaining any injuries.

The suspected kidnappers reportedly fled the area upon sighting the advancing troops. Security operatives have since launched efforts to track down and arrest those involved.

The successful operation highlights the military’s continued efforts to combat kidnapping and strengthen security along the Abuja–Kaduna corridor and neighbouring communities, where security agencies have intensified operations against criminal elements.
