30-Year-Old Edo APC Candidate, Anthony Osarobo Wins Ovia South West Chairmanship Election
Anthony Osarobo, a 30-year-old politician, has emerged as the chairman-elect of Ovia South West Local Government Area following the newly concluded local council elections in Edo State.
Contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osarobo secured a landslide victory by polling an overwhelming 98,994 votes across the 10 administrative wards of the council.
His sweeping victory was officially confirmed and announced by the Returning Officer, Dr. Arodoye Nosakhare, at the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) Local Government Collation Centre.
The election marks a significant milestone in the state’s political landscape, making Osarobo one of the youngest local government chairmen to be elected under the current administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The official scorecard released by the electoral umpire showed that the young candidate completely outpaced his competitors from other political parties, with his closest rivals from the various minor parties pooling marginal double-digit figures across the entire local government area.
Upon compiling the data, the returning officer declared that the APC candidate, having fulfilled all legal requirements and scored the majority of valid votes, was duly returned elected.
Reacting to his electoral victory shortly after the official announcement, the chairman-elect expressed deep gratitude to the local electorate for their overwhelming support and confidence. Osarobo stated that he does not take the massive mandate for granted, emphasizing that the victory belongs to the residents of the communities who turned out to cast their ballots.
He pledged to run an inclusive, responsive administration and vowed to work tirelessly toward bringing tangible progress, socioeconomic empowerment, and infrastructural development to every corner of Ovia South West Local Government Area.
