FRSC, NITT Partner on Training, Research to Boost Transport Sector

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has entered into a partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, aimed at improving training, research, innovation and professional capacity in Nigeria’s transport sector.

The collaboration was formalised on Tuesday with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, and the Director-General of NITT, Dr. Bayero Farah.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mohammed said the agreement represents a major step towards building a safer and more efficient transport system, adding that it would strengthen cooperation between both institutions in specialised training, research, technology, driver education and knowledge sharing.

According to him, the new partnership builds on an existing working relationship between the two organisations and provides a structured framework to expand joint initiatives that will improve institutional capacity and professional standards across the transport industry.

He said the agreement would also support the modernisation of driver training centres, promote ICT-driven learning, enhance research efforts and produce transport professionals capable of addressing emerging road safety and mobility challenges.

Mohammed stressed that the MoU goes beyond a symbolic agreement, describing it as a practical roadmap for implementing reforms that will contribute to the development of Nigeria’s transport sector.

In his remarks, NITT Director-General Bayero Farah praised the FRSC for its commitment throughout the discussions leading to the agreement. He said the partnership is designed to align transport education, professional training and research in Nigeria with international standards while developing skilled manpower to support sustainable national growth.

The event was attended by representatives of government and the private sector, including the Chief Executive Officer of AAI, Ahmed Abdelhafaz, and the Chairman of AAI, Ejike Njeze, alongside other stakeholders.
