Afikpo Residents Endorse PDP’s Odii for Ebonyi Governorship Race
Residents from several communities in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Ifeanyichukwuma Odii, ahead of the February 6, 2027 election.
The endorsement was made on Wednesday during an event tagged “Street Endorsement for Odii” in Afikpo, where party leaders and supporters described Odii as a candidate with the capacity to improve the fortunes of the state.
The Ebonyi State PDP Women Leader, Chinyere Nwele, said Odii’s governorship ambition had come at a crucial period for the state, arguing that Ebonyi required leadership with experience, broad exposure and the ability to attract development.
Nwele said the party’s candidate possessed the competence, integrity and network needed to provide a new direction for the state.
She urged residents to support the PDP candidate, warning that Ebonyi could face greater challenges if voters failed to elect a leader with the required vision and experience in 2027.
Also speaking, the PDP senatorial candidate for Ebonyi South, Maria Nwachi, appealed to residents to obtain and use their Permanent Voter Cards during the election.
Nwachi, a former member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, said Odii understood the concerns of residents and would pursue inclusive governance if elected.
She cited developments in neighbouring Abia State under Governor Alex Otti as an example of the type of leadership she said the PDP candidate intended to replicate in Ebonyi.
The PDP candidate for Afikpo North-East State Constituency, Iheukwumere Okogwu-Otu, described the endorsement as a demonstration of confidence in Odii’s ability to lead the state.
He called on voters to make informed choices in 2027, saying the gathering was aimed at mobilising support for a candidate the group believed could address the state’s challenges.
Similarly, the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Afikpo North-West, Ewa Chukwumaijem, urged residents to register and secure their voter cards ahead of the polls.
