Troops Kill ISWAP Fighter, Recover Supplies in Borno Ambush

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have killed an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighter and recovered suspected logistics supplies during an ambush operation in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Military sources disclosed that the operation was carried out in the early hours of June 15 by troops of the 222 Battalion following intelligence reports indicating the movement of suspected terrorists along a known crossing route near Yaleri Kurma Village.

The troops reportedly laid an ambush at about 12:15 a.m. and engaged the insurgents upon making contact, resulting in the death of one ISWAP member.

Following the encounter, soldiers recovered items believed to be supplies destined for terrorist elements operating within the area. The recovered materials included two nylon bags of flour, 12 packs of 500-gram salt and 10 packets of spaghetti.

Sources said no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.

After completing the mission, the ambush team reportedly relocated and continued with its assigned operational activities.

Military sources further noted that while the overall security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, it continues to be unpredictable. Troops, they said, have remained on high alert and are sustaining offensive operations aimed at disrupting terrorist activities and logistics networks across the region.
