Ogun Police Command Nab Security Guard for Allegedly Defiling 16-Year-Old Girl

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a private security guard for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl within a gated community in the state.

The suspect was taken into custody following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s parents at the local divisional police headquarters.

According to preliminary police reports, the suspect took advantage of his positioning as a trusted security operative within the neighborhood to lure the teenage victim into an isolated area of the estate.

The incident has sparked severe outrage among residents and local child rights advocates, who have raised serious concerns over the lack of proper background checks, psychological profiling, and oversight regarding privately contracted security personnel deployed to safeguard residential spaces.

Following the report, police investigators immediately escorted the victim to a government medical facility for a comprehensive clinical evaluation and forensic examination to secure vital evidence for prosecution. The state command confirmed that the medical reports will form a core part of the case file.

The Ogun State Police Command stated that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for discreet, high-level profiling and interrogation. Law enforcement authorities reiterated their zero-tolerance policy toward sexual violence, gender-based assault, and the violation of minors, affirming that the suspect will be arraigned in a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as investigations are fully concluded.
