FEC Approves Reconstruction of 13 Roads Across Nation

 

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the reconstruction of 13 critical roads across Nigeria.

 

The approval, which was announced on Wednesday, is expected to have a major impact on the country’s transportation network and improve the overall quality of life for millions of Nigerians.

 

The roads are Akure-Ekiti Road (Ikere), which connects the capitals of Ondo and Ekiti states;

Sokoto-Zamfara-Katsina-Kaduna Road, a vital road network that spans across four key states in the North;

Maiduguri-Munguno Road, a critical route in the North-East region;

Afikpo-Abakaliki Road in Ebonyi State, a project that has been eagerly anticipated by the local community;

Ado-Odo-Alapoti Road in Ogun State, which is expected to improve connectivity in the South-West region

 

Others are Enugu-Onitsha Road, a major highway that connects two key cities in the South-East;

Benin-Shagamu-Ore Road, a critical route that links several major cities in the South-South and South-West regions;

Axial Road-Lekki Deep Sea Port, a project that is expected to boost economic activity in the Lagos area;

Dangote Refinery Road, which will provide access to the newly constructed refinery;

Aba-Ikot Ekpene Road, a vital route that connects Abia and Akwa Ibom states;

Gombe-Yola Road, a critical highway that links Gombe and Adamawa states in the North-East region

 

The approval of these road projects is a major milestone in the federal government’s efforts to improve the nation’s infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.

 

The reconstruction of these roads is expected to create jobs, improve road safety, and enhance the overall quality of life for millions of Nigerians.

 

Reacting to the news, the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, expressed his delight at the approval, saying that the reconstruction of these roads will have a significant impact on the country’s economy. “The approval of these road projects is a testament to the federal government’s commitment to improving the nation’s infrastructure and stimulating economic growth,” he said.

 

The Minister also assured that the ministry will work tirelessly to ensure that the projects are completed on time and within budget. “We will work closely with the contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that these projects are delivered to the highest standards and that they are completed on time,” he said.

 

The news of the approval has been welcomed by stakeholders, including state governments, business leaders, and ordinary citizens. The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, expressed his gratitude to the federal government for approving the reconstruction of the Afikpo-Abakaliki Road, saying that it will have a major impact on the state’s economy. “We are grateful to the federal government for approving this project,” he said. “The reconstruction of this road will improve connectivity, boost economic activity, and enhance the overall quality of life for our people.”

 

The reconstruction of the 13 roads is expected to commence soon, with the federal government working closely with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the projects are completed on time and within budget.
