Ebonyi APC Commissioner Felix Igboke Resigns, Defects to PDP With Supporters
Felix Igboke, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring, has resigned from his position and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Igboke announced his defection on Sunday during a PDP gathering held in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, which was attended by party leaders, executives and supporters.
He claimed he defected alongside “more than 10,000 supporters,” describing the move as a major political realignment in the state.
The former APC chieftain said his return to the PDP was a “homecoming,” noting that his political career began in the party.
“I am happy to return to the political platform that built me. I served as a councillor, development centre coordinator, and chairman of Onicha Local Government Area under the same party before joining the APC,” he said.
Igboke said his decision was driven by the need to align with a political platform capable of advancing the interests of the people and promoting inclusive development in Ebonyi State.
He also expressed support for the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma-Odii, whom he described as “the incoming governor.”
“I am grateful to the PDP family in Ebonyi State, especially the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma-Odii,” he said.
Reacting to the development, the Ebonyi State Chairman of the PDP, Chukwuma Igwe, described Igboke’s defection as a significant boost to the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
Igwe said the PDP had regained momentum across the state and was positioned to reclaim power in the next election cycle.
He added that the increasing influx of members reflected growing public confidence in the party’s leadership and direction.
Also speaking, Eni-Uduma Chima, PDP candidate for the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency seat in 2027, said the party was witnessing rapid expansion across Ebonyi State.
Chima expressed optimism that the growing support base would translate into electoral victory for the PDP in future polls.
The event drew party faithful, community leaders, and supporters from different parts of the state, many of whom pledged continued loyalty to the PDP.
