Gunmen Kill Several Near College in Enugu State, Residents Cry Out
Suspected attackers have struck again in Enugu State, killing several people at Awgu Junction, near the Federal College of Education.
The incident happened on a federal highway, causing panic among travelers and residents. Hundreds of local people gathered along the road after the attack as tension spread across the area.
The attackers, described by some residents as Fulani terrorists, targeted people going about their daily business. Witnesses reported that the gunmen came suddenly and shot at civilians before escaping. The Federal College of Education nearby was thrown into fear, with students and staff staying indoors for safety.
Residents of the area are now crying out for help. Many have taken to social media to call on President Donald Trump and the U.S. government to intervene. They expressed frustration that killings have become too much in Nigeria, with innocent brothers and sisters being slaughtered like animals.
Some locals are also angry at the Enugu State governor, calling him useless and accusing him of waiting for the president instead of acting. Others have suggested extreme measures, such as banning all public cattle rearing and shooting anyone seen grazing in bushes.
There is also growing ethnic tension, with some Igbos being blamed for previously mocking Yoruba people over similar attacks.
The attack at Awgu Junction has left many dead and the community in deep pain. Residents feel abandoned and are demanding immediate action from both state and federal authorities. Until security is improved, people living along the federal highway say they will continue to live in fear.
