Son, Grandson Allegedly Behind Abduction of Elderly Kaduna Man
The Nigeria Police Force in Kaduna State has alleged that the abduction of an elderly man, Alhaji Rabo Jelani, was orchestrated by his son, Yusuf Rabo, and his grandson, Ali Haruna, who is currently on the run.
Police authorities said Yusuf Rabo and another suspect, Musa Adamu, were arrested following investigations into the kidnapping incident.
According to the command, investigations revealed that Yusuf Rabo conspired with Musa Adamu and Ali Haruna to abduct the elderly victim for ransom over claims that he owned significant wealth and livestock.
The police said the suspects allegedly organised the operations and coordinated ransom negotiations after taking the victim to forest hideouts.
Authorities disclosed that the victim was reportedly abducted on two separate occasions.
According to police findings, the first kidnapping resulted in a ransom payment of N2 million, while a second operation allegedly yielded N4.5 million.
The command also stated that the criminal group used multiple AK-47 rifles during the operations.
Investigators alleged that Ali Haruna supplied one of the rifles, said to belong to his father, while other weapons were reportedly obtained by members of the gang.
Police said one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine was recovered during the operation.
The command added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend Ali Haruna and other suspected members of the syndicate still at large.
