Eid-el-Kabir: President Tinubu Preaches Unity, Sacrifice, Compassion Among Nigerians
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, urging Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity, compassion and peaceful coexistence.
In his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message released on Tuesday, the President said the festival symbolises the virtues of faith, obedience and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Tinubu said Nigerians must reflect on the lessons of the season by showing mercy and extending support to the less privileged irrespective of ethnic, religious or social differences.
“As a nation, we are on a journey of reconstruction and renewal. The reforms we have undertaken are challenging but necessary to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria for future generations,” he said.
The President stated that the economic reforms introduced by his administration over the past three years had begun to stabilise the economy and position Nigeria as a preferred investment destination capable of creating jobs and boosting growth.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu declared.
He also assured Nigerians that his administration remained committed to improving security across the country despite continued attacks by terrorists and bandits in some communities.
Tinubu referenced the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader, saying security agencies were intensifying efforts to defeat criminal elements threatening national peace.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.
The President urged Muslims to use the Eid celebration to pray for peace, national unity and wisdom for leaders, while also encouraging Nigerians to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and care for vulnerable members of society.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development to ensure citizens can live and pursue their aspirations without fear.
Tinubu prayed for Allah to accept the sacrifices and prayers of the faithful and wished Nigerians a peaceful and blessed Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
“Eid Mubarak! Happy Sallah!” he added.
