Akinteye Afeez Elected New NANS President at Abuja Convention
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has elected Akinteye Babatunde Afeez as its new national president following the association’s convention held in Abuja.
Afeez, who previously served as President of the NANS Senate, emerged victorious after securing 349 votes in the election.
His closest challenger, Aminu Haruna Maipanpo, polled 12 votes, while Odumosu Olumide received 10 votes.
The outcome of the election was announced at the end of the convention attended by student representatives and delegates from across the country.
In his acceptance speech, Afeez promised to run an inclusive administration that would prioritise the interests and welfare of Nigerian students.
He also pledged to provide responsive leadership and work towards protecting the rights of students in tertiary institutions across the country and abroad.
The newly elected president assured members of the association of his commitment to strengthening the voice of Nigerian students and addressing issues affecting the student community.
