Shettima Calls for Stronger Ties Between Nigeria, Benin

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called for deeper cooperation between Nigeria and Benin Republic. He spoke on behalf of President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Benin’s new President, Romuald Wadagni.

Shettima stressed that both countries should work more closely to improve trade, security, and development in the region.

The Vice President highlighted the long history of friendship between the two neighbouring nations. He noted that stronger ties would benefit citizens on both sides of the border. According to him, Nigeria is ready to partner with Benin in key areas like agriculture, infrastructure, and joint security efforts.

Shettima attended the colourful swearing-in ceremony in Benin as Nigeria’s representative. The event brought together several African leaders and international guests. His presence showed Nigeria’s commitment to good neighbourliness and regional unity.

The new Beninese President, Romuald Wadagni, is a former Finance Minister known for his economic expertise. Many believe his leadership will open fresh opportunities for collaboration with Nigeria. Both countries share similar challenges and can learn from each other’s experiences.

This latest push for stronger relations comes at an important time for West Africa. Closer Nigeria-Benin cooperation could help boost economic growth and promote peace in the sub-region. Many hope the new Benin government will build on this foundation for mutual progress and prosperity.
