Police Arrest Suspected Drug Kingpin in Lagos, Recover Drugs Worth N7.8bn

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command have arrested a 41-year-old suspected drug trafficker, Eke Henry Ifeanyi, during a major operation in Lagos that led to the recovery of 425 bags of substances suspected to be Canadian Loud, a strong strain of cannabis estimated to be worth about N7.8 billion.

The raid followed intelligence provided by a concerned resident and months of surveillance by security operatives.

Police said the suspect was apprehended at his residence and warehouse located on Olori Adekemi Ajibola Street in the Arowojobe Estate area of Mende, Maryland.

During the operation, officers reportedly recovered the suspected illicit substances alongside several vehicles allegedly fitted with fake “Presidency” and National Youth Council of Nigeria number plates.

Investigators believe the forged plates were used to transport the drugs without attracting attention from security agencies.

The police also disclosed that operatives rejected an alleged N500 million bribe reportedly offered in an attempt to compromise the operation.

Authorities urged members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities within their communities.

The suspect is expected to face further investigation and possible prosecution over the alleged offences.
