APC Declares Ahmed Wadada Winner Of Nasarawa Governorship Primary

Senator Ahmed Wadada has won the APC governorship primary in Nasarawa State, securing 195,285 votes. The election committee chairman, Professor Theodore Maiyaki, declared the senator the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 election.

Wadada defeated six other candidates in the race, with his closest challenger being a former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who came a distant second with 39,675 votes. The remaining contenders—Professor Mohamed Sani-Haruna (5,844 votes), Hassan Liman (SAN) (863 votes), Zakka Yakubu (336 votes), Fatima Abdullahi-Adamu (246 votes), and Tanimu Adabson (65 votes)—finished far behind.

The committee chairman described the overall conduct of the primaries as peaceful and highlighted the cooperation of the Nigeria Police, NSCDC, and DSS in ensuring a secure atmosphere for the exercise. The primaries also reaffirmed Governor Abdullahi Sule’s political influence in the state, as Professor Maiyaki reserved special commendation for the governor, describing him as the cornerstone of the exercise.
